Magnum Inspiration: MagnumXL

Slow work day. I'm catching up on posting all the amazing Magnum
builds that I've been meaning to post. This build is by Walt Gurdak
of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Like, like myself, is a tall guy. He towers
above most at 6' 4" and took this into consideration in building his
key lime racer.

Walt has worked very hard over 3 months, after work and on
weekends, to create this tall beast.

Walt's words - Here’s what it’s made of:

  • 1980 Puch Magnum Frame (brackets trimmed, debunged & silver vein powdercoated)
  • Magnum-length Hydraulic EBRs (dropped 2” in the trees)
  • 2 Chinese BMX stems (for clip-on clamps)
  • Shortened EBR headlight ears
  • LED Headlight & Taillight Bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs.com
  • Custom-cut Vinyl Graphics from Kinkos
  • Motomarina Sebring Tank (thanks Pete!)
  • Yamaha TD2 Seatpan/Tail from FireDogRacing.com
  • Sebac 380mm Shocks
  • Homoet 6p Exhaust (torch-bent to clear the dropped swingarm)
  • Robot Swingarm (painted with black bedliner paint)
  • Custom Brass Sealed-Bearing Cups
  • Blasted-Aluminum Powdercoat Snowflakes
  • 73’ Yamaha TX650 Turn-Signal converted to Taillight
  • Custom Ultra-Leather Upholstery wrapped around a Gel Cushion
  • 70cc DMP & High Compression Head strapped to a Stock ZA50 Case & Internals
  • Treats ZA-50 CDI
  • Custom Plumber’s Special Intake
  • Dellorto SHA 16.16 Carb with Treat’s Velocity Stack (barks like a dog!)
  • Triumph Ignition Switch
  • Triumph 5.75” Headlight
  • Extended Center-Stand (by 3”)
  • 6volt Battery in the tail (for super-loud horn action!)

I'll be sure to post more pics of this bike as he sends them to me.
Walt has taken Magnum customization to the next level.
Great great work!
