tospend some quality time with the family and work on my other
mopeds. Over the past couple of weeks I've managed to score some
pretty essential parts for my various projects. The aboe photos
depicts what was waitingfor me when I arrived home.
First up is a NOS Batavus Regency bench seat. This thing is amazing!
Justa few weeks prior I repainted some seat clamps on my Regency
and while reinstalling I managed to strip both inserts on the rear
clamp. The inserts were severely rusted. Drilling and retapping the
inserts did not prove successful. Needless to say I was all over this
seat when it popped up on Ebay.
I also won a set of NOS steering column bearings for my Sachs
Balboa. Since I've had the bike the bottom bearing on the steering
column has been missing. The one day I had the bike running there
was a lot of play in the steering and I did not feel safe riding it.
Again, what a find!
These guys are in great shape compared to the ones included
on my Balboa. My Sachs Balboa engine covers were severly
weather damaged. The plastic is all dry and crumbles off very
easily. These new covers are very gently used with just a few
oil smudges and no scratches! Plus both metal supports are
included; I only got one when I had bought the bike.
My girlfriend bought this stock foam Sachs seat. The Balboa
came with an original Vespa Ciao long seat, which I find very
comfortable. My girlfriend disagrees. Since I'm rebuilding this
bike for her see got to make the final decision on a seat. Plus
with this seat she can use the luggage rack. I might be willing
to trade or sell the Vespa Ciao long seat.
Last item I won is a 17 chrome spoke Puch front wheel. As earlier
noted the front wheel on my Puch Magnum is bent beyond the
limits of usability. This wheel with serve as a temporary fix until
I'm able to score some 5 star Grimeca Mags for a decent price.
This might take a while. But, I've got time.
